Our approach to acute care
At Tufts Medicine Behavioral Health Hospital, our care is evidence-based, person-centered, and focused on helping each patient make real progress. We combine different types of therapies to create a plan that fits each person’s needs, helping them learn practical skills to manage symptoms and move forward in their recovery.
Depending on what a patient needs, care may include:
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
- Group therapy
- Experiential therapies like art and music therapy
- 12-Step and SMART Recovery groups
We also provide electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for select patients. ECT is a carefully controlled procedure done under anesthesia, where small electrical currents help reset brain activity. It is safe, highly regulated and can be life-changing for people struggling with conditions like depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
